The Intern Diaries – Episode 2 by Jessica Nicole Griffiths
I’ve been interning here for just over two weeks now and I’ve become that annoying person who loves their job and rubs it in everyones face. It’s hard not to really – working in digital marketing there is always a photo on Instagram to ‘heart’, a tweet waiting to be retweeted or a Facebook post to share. There always seems to be something going on that’s worth documenting too.
For example, yesterday was Pancake Day and as you do – we made some pancakes (it would be rude not to). Emma Jane has this incredible ability to flip two pancakes at once. So naturally we needed video this and put it on Instagram, share it on Twitter and Facebook. It’s just how it goes.
We do actually work very hard at G&I and my responsibilities are increasing by the day – I’ve been organising the stall holders for the Northcote Road Summer Fete which has been very challenging and requires lots of organisation and spreadsheet maintenance. My spreadsheets have become my children and I am very protective of them. I spend a lot of time sourcing content for both Gertrude & Ivy and our clients social media profiles. It’s much harder than I expected it to be but I’m slowly getting better at it with plenty of guidance from Emma Jane and Heather.
Every day is different, every day is challenging – but it’s much easier when you enjoy what you’re doing and even easier when you enjoy who you’re doing it with.
