Starter for 10 with Elinor Sterry
This month, we are very pleased to welcome Elinor Sterry to team G&I, in the role of Social Media & Marketing Executive. Elinor (we call her Ell) has only been on board a matter of weeks, and already proved herself to be an excellent addition to our fold. Ell is full of creative energy and natural style (see her personal Instagram feed), and with a degree in illustration, her affinity to all things font, calligraphy and design are easy to understand. We asked 10 questions to our new starter Ell, to introduce her to you all….
Elinor Sterry of Solihull, under what circumstances did we meet?
I had my heart set on coming to London to seek my fortune, and Gertrude & Ivy offered a creative outlet and fantastic colleagues. You told me no two days would be the same at G&I, and I couldn’t wait to get stuck in!
In one sentence please explain: What are you like?
Imaginative, energetic and creative, an animal lover and a people person.
In two sentences please explain: Why are you like this?
My parents raised me deep in the countryside on books and nature; a little cross between Mathilda and Stig of the Dump. I was a sort of feral child (not really, we just played outside a lot – I’ve had all my jabs) and the freedom, fresh air and lack of a television instilled in me a lust for adventure and slightly over active imagination!
In 5 words, what is the definition of a G&I girl?
A thinker, creator, problem-solver, trendsetter and a lady!
Why did you choose to work in Social Media?
I love being given the opportunity to make something grow, whether it’s peonies or brand awareness. Social Media offers variety and excitement as well as interaction with all sorts of lovely people.
Why did you choose to work at G&I?
Being a small agency means you see the results of your work at Gertrude & Ivy. I saw kind, smart people who value their staff and their clients above all and I hope to live up to those standards as a G&I girl.
What is your connection with Beyonce?
Deep – I would say almost telepathic. We can communicate with simply a look.
Which is your favourite Beyonce song & why?
Her cover of Etta James’ “Rather Go Blind” in the movie Cadillac Records. I have always loved Etta James and hearing Beyonce sing jazz and blues is a dream.
What is your poison?
Aperol Spritz! You do get some funny looks when you order it in a pub in Sunderland in mid February though…
Do you have anything to add?
Hopefully a lot; I’m so excited to be a part of this team and can’t wait to see where the future takes us!
