Past, Present & Future: Winter Events at Gertrude & Ivy – Story in Photos
The winter section of the G&I calendar is filled with events hosted, promoted, attended and often organised by team G&I. We are very pleased to have Sarah Frankel back on the G&I team as our new PR & Events Executive – she has been busy! As the festive period approaches and the end of 2014 is upon us, I take stock of a few of my favourite events from the Gertrude & Ivy winter calendar.
Instagram Slam at The Doodle Bar – 4th November 2014
FullSizeRenderAhead of The White Christmas Fair, team G&I hosted a training course at Testbed1 (venue for the 2014 event) for the brands taking part – stall holders, charity partner, sponsors and supporters. Sarah hosted this speed-training session around a large table in the cosy Doodle Bar, fuelled by pots of tea (and possibly a cocktail or two!) and armed with only our iPhones. Sarah’s Instagram skill and our mutual love of the flat lay photo format, powered this workshop which produced some excellent results (especially considering it WAS their first time!).
Table for 10 at Ben’s Canteen – 10th November 2014
Tablefor10The Table for 10 concept and social media campaign has been one of my highlights of working with Ben and Team Canteen. On the 10th November the Table for 10 campaign launched for Ben’s Canteen in Earlsfield. True to the canteen name, diners in groups of any number, may eat on any day, at any time and sit at a communal table, which seats 10 people. Diners at the Table for 10 receive 10% off the bill. I won’t say any more – it has been much better expressed by one of the lovely bloggers who attended on the launch nights G&I organised earlier this month.
Breakfast at The Pepper Tree, Clapham Common – 15th November 2014
This month saw the launch of weekend breakfasts at The Pepper Tree in Clapham Common. This Thai restaurant serves street-food, in a beautiful and recently renovated canteen style dining room. Last week The Pepper Tree (now part of Eco Restaurants) won the Best Restaurant in Clapham Award from the Time Out I Love London Awards. I hosted the press launch table a few Saturdays ago – these photos speak more about the new weekend breakfast menu than I could ever write.
The White Christmas Fair – 6th & 7th December 2014
Now in its second year, The White Christmas Fair was a one-day event last December but this year we decided to extend the event across the whole weekend. As the Fair was kindly included in Sally-Ann’s Social Shopping blog post last week and featured in Sarah’s blog post the week before, I’ll let you read more about the event from them.
The duration of the Fair is not the only way it has grown – there are several notable additions including whiskey distillery tours, Champagne tastings, a meet-the-author table and hot roast chestnuts – see more on the Pinterest board. Also look out for the chance to walk the red carpet like a sleb (celeb) in the entrance to the event, just past the boulevard of Christmas trees which lead into Testbed1 from Parkgate Road.
New this year is the lucky coincidence that Small Business Saturday falls on 6th December – the first day of the Fair. The White Christmas Fair is a room filled with independent brands, so the Deputy Mayor of Wandsworth (Cllr Richard Field) has agreed to cut the red ribbon with me to open the event at 10am.
There are some parts of the project which I am glad to say haven’t changed – it is great to be working with Biagio and the lovely team at Uffizi, welcoming Mark and the good people at Douglas & Gordon back as principal sponsor, and organising the event with the wonderful venue staff at Testbed1 and The Doodle Bar.
On behalf of all the team at G&I – hope to see you at the Fair.
