Digital Footsteps : Interning at Gertrude & Ivy by Jessica Nicole Griffiths
I’ve just started working at Gertrude & Ivy as their new intern… and I love it! It’s easily the most enjoyable job I’ve ever had – mostly because I find it both interesting and challenging. Emma Jane and Heather have tasked me with documenting my experience of being an intern here in the form of a blog post. So what I am to do here is to give you a little peek behind the curtain if you will – of what it’s like being an intern here.
Upon arriving for my first interview at the office in Battersea to meet Emma Jane and Heather a few weeks back I was greeted at the door by none other than Prince Harry – a charismatic local cat who comes to visit us in the afternoon. Immediately upon meeting them (including Harry) I knew that this is exactly where I wanted to be. They were all so friendly, knowledgeable, highly caffeinated (!) and very patient with all my questions about digital marketing.
I first started getting interested in digital marketing through promoting myself as a model and sharing my passion for health and wellness. I enjoyed the process of creating content and sharing it in a way that allowed more people to view my work and my research. I started a blog a few months ago and set myself a challenge to reach 2,000 followers in six months. It was the first time that I had set myself a target and I’m very proud to say that i reached it three months earlier than I had anticipated. It was at this point I realised the power of social media and what can be achieved with it.
Since starting work here I’ve learnt so much. Emma Jane has been kind enough to include me in the training courses she offers which have been invaluable to me having just started my career in digital marketing. I’m particularly excited to learn more about SEO and creating engaging content to share with the world.
I’ll be posting regular updates here about life as an intern so stay tuned.
