Big Changes for Twitter & Facebook
Twitter is currently testing a new design
The new design echoes the look and layout of Facebook and Google+. Well, you know what they say about imitation and flattery! One change has already happened this week: the Connect button in the top navigation has been renamed Notifications – in line with the mobile app version. We predict increased functionality will be introduced via mobile apps of social networks, as seen on their web hosted versions.
Facebook has also announced BIG changes
Facebook told of plans this week to streamline their brand pages including a move from the two column layout to a one column display, saying this will ensure posts appear consistently on the Page and in News feeds. The cover photo will now include white text (inserted by Facebook) with your category and brand name plus the position of the image will change slightly. Also worth noting: the admin panel will allow you to track engagement and activity of your competitors’ pages, so you can compare statistics like-for-like.
Keep an eye on your Twitter & Facebook profiles in the coming weeks – you may need to make an adjustment to your Facebook cover photo and potentially some other changes to make sure your profiles continue to perform. Do let us know if and when you see these changes taking shape on your pages – we’ll be making the necessary updates to our training courses to make sure we are teaching everyone the updated functionality and features. Change is good!
