April: Socially Speaking
01: The month started with a bit of foolish fun….
Thanks to everyone who clicked Like for DJ Goldilox, and the announcement that I am to headline at Pacha in Ibiza this summer… Special mention for the person who asked for links to my Soundcloud mixes – they will be released on 1st April next year.
06: Instagram momentarily lost its mind, over the change to an algorithmic home feed. Happily, the results are not as devastating as the initial freak out suggested, and higher engagement figures have been widely reported. This social network wide unravel, inspired my blog that week, about appropriate calls to action (CTAs) via social media.
13: Good Evening Twitter with the team from new hot desking space in Battersea: Out Of Office. This was the first exit for the evening version of our breakfast networking and Twitter training event, Good Morning Twitter. We welcomed many new members to the Twitterati, while drinking craft beers from around the world. Our thanks to team Boutique Bar Brands for co-hosting – more training and networking events coming up soon.
21: 7AMonth Putney. Invited by board member Geoff Lloyd from Caltrics, this was my first meeting as a fully fledged member. On the third Thursday of every month, this 40 strong group of fellow owner-operated businesses, workaholics and talented professionals, eat breakfast together, overlooking the Thames as the sun comes up.
“First you should not ask what LinkedIn can do for you, but what you can do for it”.
Nick Blanchard (the wonderfully energetic leader of the meeting) asked me to give a 10 Minute LinkedIn training session that morning. As time was short, I chose to make one main point about social media marketing, and shared three specific tips to win on LinkedIn: Connect, Endorse, and Engage.
22/23: Facebook announced St George’s Day, 24 hours early. This gaff produced some very amusing responses from fellow Brits such as this from Hannah Jones:

This week: Recruiting a new member to team G&I (more on this soon), launching our first Instagram training event (to be hosted at Glebe House London in Clapham on 3 June), and a podcast with fellow agency owner, Jon Buchan of Render Positive.
I hope your April has treated you well – let me know over on Twitter @LadyofSocial
