A to Z of Brands we LIKE!
Team Gertrude & Ivy were pleased to take part in the Pop Up Talent Shop in Tooting, organised by talented “Talent Agent” Leigham Strachan, on behalf of The Foyer Federation earlier this month. I took some photos at the event – I invite you to take a look on our Facebook page.
We spoke to many local young people, who showed interest in the activity we were running on our stand: collecting data for our A to Z of Brands we LIKE (on social media). This event seemed a good opportunity to poll which brands on social media could be recalled most easily by the 17-25 year old attendees, to see which companies are really engaging this classically difficult to please demographic which shows an ever-decreasing attention span.
The results of our research were clear immediately: it is the fashion brands which penetrate the young consciousness, with Nike coming out as the clear favourite. This pattern no doubt mirrors the importance placed on this element of their life and identity. The A-Z features both brands the young people are wearing and those labels they aspire to wear – smart brands understand these young people are the customers of the future and valuable fans meanwhile. The other main insight drawn from this research was that none of the young people could think of a brand starting with X.
Since fashion brands featured as clear favourite, I decided to harness Pinterest to pin the 26 (or rather 25!) images to a board titled: A to Z of Brands we LIKE. Every image represents one brand most Liked via social media, according to this group of young people.
If you can think of a brand starting with X which these young people should have known, please do let me know on Twitter.
